WYC wins RYA communication awards

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) has chosen Whitstable Yacht Club’s website, designed by Tinderhouse, as the winner of the RYA Communications Award – South East region.

The RYA awards recognise the growing importance of communication by sailing and yacht clubs. Effective websites help clubs and organisations to communicate with their members and build a community beyond the clubhouse.

Tinderhouse designed and created the club’s new website in January 2004. The website features club information, race schedules, race results and other essential sailing information. Tinderhouse also provided a full content management system which allows club officers to update the site quickly and easily.

The website has been built to provide maximum accessibility and usability to its visitors. The site complies with website industry standards and can be viewed on PCs, mobile phones, PDAs and even digital televisions.

Tinderhouse director Nick Tatt said “Our unique approach which combines strategic insight and accessible website design has again proved successful. The site is a great model for other clubs to follow.”

Whitstable Yacht Club Commodore Maureen Bush said “Our new website has made communicating with club members much quicker. We can now post sailing results and news instantly. The website has also raised the profile of the club and promotes it to prospective members and visitors from the UK and abroad. Tinderhouse interpreted our requirements very well and created a website that does the club proud.”
