Map My Tracks - Real-time GPS tracking

The time has finally come to pull back the curtain to Map My Tracks. For the past six months or so we have been hard at work getting everything just right and we’re chuffed to finally launch the site.

Map My TracksWe went of a soft launch just before the festive season and although registration to Map My Tracks is currently by invitation-only we have been overwhelmed with the reaction. Thank you to all that have expressed an interest in using Map My Tracks.

Map My Tracks is all about real-time GPS tracking using your mobile phone. It is great for bringing a new insight into your sporting activity and makes training fun. As it is real-time Map My Tracks also let your friends, competitors or parents know where you are right now.

Who would find it useful? It’s ideal for tracking activities like sailing, cycling, running, canoeing, skiing, walking, windsurfing, orienteering, mountaineering, horse riding, hang gliding, gliding, snowboarding, paragliding, hot air ballooning or just for fun.

Behind the scenes Expression Engine is used to handle the content and member management. On top of that we are using the finest mix of AJAX, microformats and GPS all brought together to provide GPS tracking for all.

The website is only one half of the product, Tinderhouse has also developed the mobile phone application that allows users to control all their activities directly from their mobile phone. This J2ME application has been designed to complement a users sporting activity and sync with their activity log on the website.

For users that are concerned about their privacy there is an option to make any track private.

As Map My Tracks is all about sharing your sporting passion the website provides all the usual social media tools to share your activity. Below is one of the tracks produced during a short post-festive season bike ride!

Hi! I got the most valuable information of gps tracking and cost of managing and operating a fleet of vehicles has dramatically increased over the past 5 years. Increased fuel, maintenance and insurance cost bear much of the blame.
